Ventoux Wine in Honour of Tom Simpson

A vineyard at the base of Mont Ventoux is to launch a wine in memory of Tom Simpson who lost his life on the mountain in 1967. Some of the proceeds from the sale of each bottle will go to the Simpson family to help maintain the memorial to Tom.

Produced by the Domaine des Anges vineyard the wine has been labeled ‘Tom and the Peloton’. It marks the 50th anniversary of the British cyclist’s death.

Made up from 90% syrah and 10% Grenache, it is expected to sell for £13 a bottle and will be marketed for UK sales. According to the tasting notes it offers “aromas of white pepper, cured meats, resinous herbs and sweet black and red fruits.”
